Call for IJTMB Section Editor Applications

The International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (IJTMB) editorial team is looking for a rising professional in the massage therapy, bodywork, or health care industry to serve as a section editor for this quarterly online open access, peer-reviewed journal.

The areas of responsibility may include the following: 

  • supervision of manuscript submissions through the various sequential steps of the Open Journal System (OJS) process
  • mentoring of submitting authors as needed during the peer-review process
  • maintenance of the Manuscript Review Board’s membership subset 
  • the identification of and communication with prospective contributing authors 
  • the refinement of the journal’s author guidelines as might be needed regarding one’s section of responsibility
  • authoring occasional editorials 
  • conferring with the Executive Editor, Editor-in-Chief, and/or the journal’s Editorial Assistants as circumstances necessitate
  • assuming a proactive leadership role regarding any areas of the journal’s purview that may advance the exposure, circulation, and impact of the IJTMB

An ideal candidate has all or most of these qualifications:

  • an advanced degree, Masters required, PhD preferred
  • relevant licensure in accordance to state or province
  • attention to detail and meets deadlines
  • experience with writing, reviewing and/or editing for publication
  • understanding of various research methods 
  • a pulse on the bodywork and massage therapy industry and/or school environment
  • interest in mentoring authors and students 

This role requires a 3-year term commitment and is approximately 3-5 hours a week (maybe greater initially for orientation and training).  A small quarterly stipend is provided.
